Na \u00faltima viagem do ano, a equipe, composta por oito profissionais, percorreu mais de 1.780 quil\u00f4metros pelo rio Madeira com o objetivo de coletar dados, analisar altera\u00e7\u00f5es e identificar poss\u00edveis alertas ambientais na regi\u00e3o. A inciativa possui parceria com o Instituto de Prote\u00e7\u00e3o Ambiental do Amazonas (Ipaam), o Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cient\u00edfico e Tecnol\u00f3gico (CNPq), a Funda\u00e7\u00e3o de Amparo \u00e0 Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas (Fapeam) e o Grupo Atem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-carousel stk-block-carousel stk--is-slide stk--arrows-justify-space-between wp-elements-5116b0e6400d67788a1cc99212b2afde\">Intitulada Iriru 3, a terceira campanha do GP-QAT pelo Madeira partiu de Manaus no dia 9 de agosto, com foco em identificar, partir de 164 par\u00e2metros do Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente (Conama), a qualidade da \u00e1gua, dos peixes e dos sedimentos de um dos principais afluentes do rio Amazonas, essencial para o desenvolvimento econ\u00f4mico e ambiental de munic\u00edpios como Borba, Manicor\u00e9, Humait\u00e1, Nova Olinda do Norte, Urucurituba e Novo Aripuan\u00e3. A maior parte das amostras coletadas ser\u00e1 submetida a estudos em laborat\u00f3rios da Escola Superior de Tecnologia (EST\/UEA). As an\u00e1lises de merc\u00fario e metilmerc\u00fario ser\u00e3o levadas ao laborat\u00f3rio da Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, parceira internacional do grupo, sediada em Boston, nos Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b909d9bb1d229913a7b403e28b6ba4a1\">Desde 2022, o grupo atua de forma interdisciplinar, com o envolvimento de pesquisadores das mais diversas \u00e1reas da ci\u00eancia. O barco, que leva o nome do pesquisador Roberto dos Santos Vieira, disp\u00f5e de uma metodologia cont\u00ednua de monitoramento ambiental nas bacias hidrogr\u00e1ficas do Amazonas, tendo como prioridade regi\u00f5es com hist\u00f3rico de press\u00e3o antr\u00f3pica e degrada\u00e7\u00e3o crescente. A log\u00edstica das campanhas \u00e9 cuidadosamente planejada para garantir representatividade espacial e temporal das coletas. Al\u00e9m disso, o grupo tem investido em capacita\u00e7\u00e3o t\u00e9cnico-cient\u00edfica de estudantes e jovens pesquisadores da regi\u00e3o em fortalecimento \u00e0 forma\u00e7\u00e3o local em ci\u00eancias ambientais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ebc54c1f7ec2ccbe6c34b5b29f2a764d\">O coordenador do ProQAS\/AM, Prof. Dr. Sergio Duvoisin Junior, destaca a import\u00e2ncia da infraestrutura laboratorial instalada pelo GP-QAT, e ressalta que ela permite acompanhar com precis\u00e3o altera\u00e7\u00f5es qu\u00edmicas e biol\u00f3gicas em ecossistemas e identificar contamina\u00e7\u00f5es em diferentes esp\u00e9cies e ambientes da bacia do rio Madeira. \u201cA robustez da infraestrutura laboratorial \u00e9 in\u00e9dita na regi\u00e3o e permitir\u00e1 an\u00e1lises detalhadas de m\u00faltiplos par\u00e2metros ambientais, possibilitando que os resultados sirvam de refer\u00eancia para estudos semelhantes em outras \u00e1reas da Amaz\u00f4nia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4151aa55b861d38137cac0b26cec7ce0\">Para o reitor da UEA, Prof. Dr. Andr\u00e9 Zogahib, o trabalho dos pesquisadores refor\u00e7a a relev\u00e2ncia da pesquisa cient\u00edfica para a sociedade. \u201cA experi\u00eancia das equipes envolvidas, fortalece a capacidade da UEA de gerar informa\u00e7\u00f5es estrat\u00e9gicas sobre fen\u00f4menos ambientais complexos, identificar altera\u00e7\u00f5es qu\u00edmicas e biol\u00f3gicas na \u00e1gua e nos ecossistemas. Esse trabalho como um todo eleva a ci\u00eancia na Amaz\u00f4nia e a parceria com institui\u00e7\u00f5es nacionais e internacionais \u00e9 fundamental complementando esse estudo para promover o desenvolvimento cient\u00edfico e sustent\u00e1vel a n\u00edvel internacional\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-789d13dfe83fb36ef9a63fad2e59b020\"><strong>Coleta de amostras<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a966fbbe264dc066dddcdcd72c003ced\">Antes da chegada a Humait\u00e1, primeiro ponto de coleta entre os 54 totais, separados por 14 quil\u00f4metros cada, parte da equipe inicia as atividades de campo com paradas estrat\u00e9gicas em outros munic\u00edpios e comunidades ribeirinhas ao longo do trajeto, onde dialoga com moradores e pescadores para identificar quais esp\u00e9cies de peixes, principal fonte de alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o da popula\u00e7\u00e3o local, s\u00e3o mais consumidas e qual a sua origem. Esse processo segue com a compra de unidades em mercados e demais pontos de comercializa\u00e7\u00e3o. A an\u00e1lise dessas amostras \u00e9 realizada devido \u00e0 import\u00e2ncia dos peixes como fonte alimentar para a popula\u00e7\u00e3o. Entre as esp\u00e9cies coletadas est\u00e3o, jaraqui, pacu, matrinx\u00e3, tra\u00edra e sardinha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-carousel stk-block-carousel stk--is-slide wp-elements-dd5874935ad6230deddfcee77a32efa0\">Do ponto 1 ao 54, que vai de Humait\u00e1 at\u00e9 desaguar pr\u00f3ximo a Itacoatiara, a equipe de coleta se separa do restante da tripula\u00e7\u00e3o em uma lancha, meio de locomo\u00e7\u00e3o que acelera o processo de ida entre um ponto e outro ao longo de aproximadamente 9 horas at\u00e9 o retorno ao barco no final da tarde. S\u00e3o utilizados kits de coleta e equipamentos port\u00e1teis para a medi\u00e7\u00e3o in loco das vari\u00e1veis ambientais, como a sonda multipar\u00e2metro, respons\u00e1vel por aferir o pH, a temperatura da \u00e1gua e do ar, a condutividade el\u00e9trica e o oxig\u00eanio dissolvido. J\u00e1 a turbidez da \u00e1gua \u00e9 avaliada com o aux\u00edlio de um turbid\u00edmetro port\u00e1til.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-af020900880074fcabcf3e787480bec6\">Apesar da agilidade proporcionada pela coleta em lancha, a equipe constantemente enfrenta as condi\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas t\u00edpicas da regi\u00e3o, como chuvas fortes, calor intenso e correntezas, que dificultam a navega\u00e7\u00e3o e a realiza\u00e7\u00e3o das coletas. Trechos de dif\u00edcil acesso, como bancos de areia e margens com vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o densa, tamb\u00e9m tornam o processo mais lento e exigem aten\u00e7\u00e3o constante. Essa pr\u00e1tica, apesar de proibida, faz parte do cotidiano de muitos ribeirinhos. Pescadores costumam dividir o tempo di\u00e1rio entre a agricultura familiar e a extra\u00e7\u00e3o do min\u00e9rio. Em grande parte, a explora\u00e7\u00e3o garimpeira \u00e9 fonte de renda prim\u00e1ria para as fam\u00edlias desde a d\u00e9cada de 80.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-carousel diretamente na \u00e1gua. Em muitos trechos, o impacto \u00e9 agravado pela forma\u00e7\u00e3o das &#8220;fofocas&#8221;, agrupamentos de v\u00e1rias dragas que operam simultaneamente em um mesmo ponto. Essa atividade intensiva gera turbidez elevada, degrada a qualidade da \u00e1gua, acelera o assoreamento e amplia a contamina\u00e7\u00e3o de peixes e sedimentos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-bdf7733c90b5117813d3105509a639d1\">A presen\u00e7a do metilmerc\u00fario nos peixes, especialmente nas esp\u00e9cies mais consumidas pela popula\u00e7\u00e3o local, tamb\u00e9m representa um risco silencioso \u00e0 sa\u00fade p\u00fablica. Por se tratar de um composto que se acumula nos organismos ao longo da cadeia alimentar at\u00e9 chegar ao ser humano, sua ingest\u00e3o cont\u00ednua pode provocar efeitos neurol\u00f3gicos severos, principalmente em gestantes e crian\u00e7as.
